Final Project – Part 3

Share the final design of your professional development network (PLN) during our last class session.

Deliverable
Post the mindmap link for your project to the SM4Ed Facebook group along with a descriptive lead-in sentence.

Presentation
Join the class meeting on Dec 8. Each person will present the highlights of his or her final PLN in five (5) minutes through Collaborate's application sharing feature. We will be online from 4:30-5:45 PM when you may rehearse your presentation.

Presentation guidelines
During your presentation, be sure to comment on:
  • Your locus of control, i.e., the audience that you will work with on the current or future job.
  • Your professional goals (in terms of your target audience).
  • Content focus (e.g.. mobile technology, STEM, staff development).
  • Content aggregation (how you will gather or receive information from various sources).
  • Technology tools (for interacting with colleague or following experts).
  • Individuals, organizations and networks to connect with.
  • Knowledge or resource sharing methods.

Review the overall project requirements and rubric prior to finalizing your presentation:

Share your final PLN in ONE of two ways:
  • Show and explain your final mindmap using application sharing in Collaborate.
  • Create a short multimedia presentation and share it using Collaborate application sharing. Prezi, the free online presentation tool, now has mind map templates.

Application Sharing in Collaborate
  • Login EARLY 45-60 min to do an audio test. You may practice application sharing. We will be online from 4:30 PM.
  • A headphone is ABSOLUTELY necessary to assure good audio quality and to limit distracting background noises!
  • When sharing your desktop, DO NOT "happy click or scroll constantly!" It takes seconds for the image to refresh on everyone's Collaborate window. The entire screen has to refresh even if you are just scrolling the window by a few lines!
  • Before starting to share, quit applications that aren't needed. Close unnecessary windows and tabs in your open web browsers.
  • To share different web pages, open them in separate tabs BEFORE you present.
